Lack of confidence and low self esteem limit life
Lack of confidence is the belief that you do not have skill or abilities to perform as you would wish. Low self esteem is the belief that you do not measure up to some standard by which you judge yourself. These negative beliefs can limit your life and enjoyment.

Surprisingly, confidence has little to do with how good you are at performing a task. For example, an actors or singer may give an excellent performance but be plagued by lack of confidence both before and after the show.

When you lack confidence you are the victim of your inner critic, which is that voice in your head that plagues you with negative self-talk such as:
  • “You will never be able to do it.”
  • “You will always be a failure.”
  • “Nobody will like you.”

Negative thoughts and procrastination
To add to the problem, we run negative images in our heads. We see pictures of ourselves failing at a task, or of people judging us. Such negative talk and images make us anxious about tackling things. So we get performance anxiety about undertaking a task, or social anxiety about meeting people. In order to avoid these anxiety-provoking situations we then procrastinate, telling ourselves we will wait until we feel more confident before we do that task, make that call or meet those people. So lack of confidence limits what we do, impairs how well we do it, and reduces our enjoyment.

Hypnotherapy can bring out your confident self
Hypnotherapy can allow you to reconnect with your natural sense of confidence and self esteem. As you grew through childhood you learned to walk, talk, dress yourself, make friends, play games, read and write. Although they were a challenge at the time, you now feel confident and at ease in handling these skills, and many others that you take for granted. Furthermore, you can imagine what it might be like to feel confident and at ease today. How you would think, feel and act. You might be able to identify role models, whether in real life or in the media, who display just the sort of confidence you would like to have.

So your unconscious mind is already a treasure house of resources in the form of memories and thoughts to help you think, act and feel more confident. Hypnotherapy can access those unconscious resources to help you increase your confidence and self-esteem, giving you a more helpful, healthy and balanced approach on the challenges that you face.
