Healthier eating not weight loss
Few people consciously choose to be overweight. Yet you might find yourself eating types or amounts of food that you know will just add weight. With hypnotherapy we do not aim at losing weight, because as most diets show, this can just as easily be put back on again, often with accompanying feelings of disappointment and guilt. Instead we aim at the more fundamental approach of learning to eat in a way that is more healthy for your body.

By learning to eat in a more healthy manner, not only will your excess weight be reduced, but also your new eating pattern will ensure that your new body weight is maintained.

Healthy eating not emotional eating
For many people with weight issues food is much more than a source of nutrition. They may also eat for emotional reasons. People can use food as a response to a variety of emotional problems, such as stress or low self esteem. Their family history may have paved the way for them to find relief in comfort eating. They may fear that a slimmer body would make them more vulnerable or attract unwanted attention. As a way of dealing with emotional pain, food becomes an easily available and socially acceptable means of escape. Much of this unhealthy eating may be outside of the person’s awareness and governed by unconscious eating habits.

Hypnotherapy and unconscious eating habits
Much of our unhealthy eating is beyond our conscious control. We find ourselves finishing off a packet of biscuits or almost absent-mindedly looking in the fridge for a snack. Hypnotherapy can access the unconscious mind and deal with some of these unhelpful ways of relating to food. Furthermore, hypnotherapy can use the unconscious mind to create a more helpful approach to food and give you the motivation to become and remain a much healthier eater. This means that the weight loss you experience with this new eating pattern will be maintained over the long-term by your new healthier life-style.
